or not. As of a few minutes ago the numbers showed Yes 21%, No 79% !
Turks have mobilized a global campaign to shift results towards “No” even though the Armenian Genocide (along with
other many other crimes against humanity) is a historical fact, . Do not let this go unacknowledged and unrecognized.

Την καινούργια του δουλειά παρουσιάζει ο ζωγράφος Γιάννης Σταύρου στην αίθουσα τέχνης «ARKTOS GALLERY», Ηροδότου 5, Κολωνάκι, από 11 μέχρι 30 Νοεμβρίου.
Ο τίτλος της έκθεσης, «Τελευταία Δρομολόγια», ανταποκρίνεται απόλυτα τη θεματολογία και το ύφος των έργων. Τοπιακός κυρίως ζωγράφος ο Γιάννης Σταύρου, ανακαλύπτει και αποκαλύπτει με τις δημιουργίες του τα τελευταία απομεινάρια από σπίτια, καράβια, δάση που σηματοδότησαν ολόκληρη εποχή του ελληνικού περιβάλλοντος και που στη συνέχεια περιμένουν παθητικά και σιωπηλά την εξαφάνιση τους.
«Ζούμε πλέον σε μια Βαβέλ…», λέει ο ίδιος. «Η πολυπολιτισμική άποψη και η εφαρμογή της εξωστρέφειας συνιστά μια δημοκρατική πρόοδο, αλλά δεν παύει νάναι παράλληλα οδοστρωτήρας διαφορών που δεν πρέπει να καταργούνται στο όνομα του πλουραλισμού. Ίση λοιπόν αντιμετώπιση του ταλέντου, της ιδιοφυίας και της πραγματικής αξίας (που κατακτιέται με πολύ κόπο σε όλους τους τομείς της ζωής) με το κακέκτυπο, το ανίκανο, την δήθεν έρευνα, την ατάλαντη φιλοδοξία Το κακό παράγινε, έγινε πλέον καθεστώς, με αποτέλεσμα το καλό έργο να κρύβεται γεμάτο αμφισβητήσεις και παράλογες ενοχές…
Βεβαίως κυνηγώ το ελκυστικό θέμα. Αντικείμενο όμως ήταν και παραμένει η ίδια η ζωγραφική – αυτό είναι η ουσία…Προσπαθώ να κάνω καλύτερη ζωγραφική. Το χρώμα και η όλη ωρίμανση του έργου μου είναι αυτό που αποκλειστικά ψάχνω. Το θέμα είναι η αφορμή. Με οδηγό τη διαίσθηση και την αισθαντικότητα πλησιάζω αυτό που θεωρούμε και θα παραμείνει για πάντα μια χίμαιρα…»
Τα έργα του Γιάννη Σταύρου θα εκτίθενται στην ARKTOS GALLERY από τις 11 έως τις 30 Νοεμβρίου 2008.

Μάνος Μπίρης: Η τέχνη του Γιάννη ΣταύρουΤη ζωγραφική τέχνη του Γιάννη Σταύρου τη γνώρισα, όπως είναι φυσικό, μέσα από δικούς μου εσωτερικούς κώδικες και επομένως για τη δική μου σχέση με τους πίνακές του μπορώ να έχω γνώμη. Από την αρχή, όπως τους παρατηρώ, έχω την εντύπωση ότι δεν με παρασύρουν μόνον σε μία άμεση αισθητική απόλαυση, που είναι έντονη με την πρώτη ματιά. Ωστόσο, το θέμα (πρωτίστως), το σχήμα, τα χρώματα φαίνονται να μην προτείνουν μία ακριβή σπουδή του «αισθητικού» αλλά, όλα αυτά τα στοιχεία, ή και το καθένα ξεχωριστά, με παρασύρουν σε διακεκριμένες εικαστικές αναμνήσεις, δηλαδή στην ένταση της εικόνας μέσα στη χρονική της στιγμή και προφανώς, σε έναν προσωπικό στοχασμό, που ξεφεύγει από την συμβατική παρουσία του θέματος. Έτσι, στα «βαπόρια» του Σταύρου, περισσότερο δέχομαι μέσα μου το μίγμα της αλμύρας και του σκοταδιού, καθώς η περίεργη λάμψη της πορφυρής καρίνας προσπαθεί να αντιδράσει στην αίσθηση μοναξιάς που αναδύεται από το σκούρο έργο.
